Lakshadweep Islands
Lakshadweep is the tiniest Union Territory of India and is its only coral island chain. This archipelago consists of 36 islands, 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks. Only 10 of these islands namely, Agatti, Amini, Andrott, Bitra, Chetlat, Kadmat, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, Kiltan and Minicoy are inhabited. Kavaratti is the Administrative Headquarters of the Union Territory. The islands are restricted area and permit from the Administration is required to visit the islands.

The Islands of Lakshadweep is one of the most spectacular tropical islands in the world. This is the only coral formed beach in India. The islands offer a heady mix of sparkling coral reefs, turquoise blue lagoons, silvery beaches and lush green coconut palms. The biggest of all tourist attractions in Lakshadweep lies in its pristine charm and its laidback life. Faraway from the urban clamor and clutter, the only sound you can hear is the waves crashing against the beaches and scream of seabirds. Agatti Island

Amini Island
is a small coblong shaped island which is 3 km long and 1.5 km wide. Talented craftsmen living here are famous for making walking sticks with tortoise shells and coconut shells.
Anthroth Island
is the largest island in Lakshadweep which is the nearest island to the main land. Thick vegetation of coconut grooves add beauty to the Island.
Bangaram Island

Bitra Island
is the smallest inhabited island in the territory. Till 1835, the island was the breeding ground for a number of sea birds.T here is a small shrine of Malik Mulla,an old Arab Saint who is said to be have been burried here.The shrine is a place of pilgrimage for the people of other islands.
Chetlat Island
is the northern most inhabited island. The island suffered a great deal at the hands of the portuguese in the 16th century.Boat building was a flourishing industry at the beginning of the 20th century when all the vessels needed by the Amindivi islanders were built here.
Kadmat Island
s ideal for a real holiday that brings you away from the maddening crowd, hustle and bustle of city life.In addition to the beautiful shallow lagoon on the west that forms an ideal spot for water sports, there is a narrow lagoon on the east. The best attractions are the long sandy beaches and small sand banks on the southern tip for sun baths.Water sports crafts like kayaks, pedal boats, sailing yachts, skiing boats and glass bottomed boats are available on hire. The scuba diving centre in the island has become an attraction for water-sport enthusiasts.
Kalpeni Island
is known for its scenic beauty and the small islets called Tilakkam and Pitti and an uninhabited island on the north called Cheriyam. A huge shallow lagoon encloses all of them. A peculiar feature of kalpeni atoll is the huge storm bank of coral debris along the eastern and south-eastern shorelines. It is believed that huge boulders were thrown up during a storm in 1847. Here one can swim, reef-walk or water-sport on kayaks, sail boats and pedal boats.Water sports crafts are given on hire; 2 bathing huts with change-rooms are available, at Koomel Beach Resort. A visit to the Baniyan factory and the Light house is also included in the days program.4 tourist cottages are also available for staying tourists.
Kavaratti Island
is the headquarters of the Lakshadweep Administration since 1964.The beautiful calm lagoon forms an ideal spot for water sport, swimming and basking on warm sandy beaches. Marine life exhibits can be seen at the marine aquarium which has excellent collection of specimens.The Dolphin Drive Centre is another attraction for water sports enthusiasts.
Kiltan Island
lies on the international trade route between the persian Gulf and Sri Lanka.On the northern and southern ends of the island there is a high storm beach.The island is thick in flora and is fertile.Kiltan has a rich tradition of folk dances.
Minicoy Island
is the southern most island in Lakshadweep, crescent shaped and has one of the largest lagoons.Viringle is the small islet that you see on the south. It is the second largest Island of Lakshadweep. The Light house of the island is one of the oldest and was constructed in 1885. You will be taken to the villages, tuna canning factory, the light house and for a long drive through dense coconut groves and winding village roads. The beaches have bathing huts and change rooms; soswim and beach walk, Pedal boat, Kayak and Sail.
